FloridaBugs.com WHAT ARE FLORIDA BED BUGS?
Florida bed bugs are small, usually just 1/6th to 1/5th inch in size. They are reddish-brown in color, but as they feed they become redder. Small claws are used to attach themselves to the victim. Adults Bedbugs will feed for up to 10-15 minutes off a host before becoming full.
They leave behind on the host a large inflamed spot that is painful and itches. Common bite areas include the face, neck, hands, and arms.
There are several signs of bed bug infestation beyond bed bug bites, bed-sheets will typically have tiny specks of blood and the castoff skins of bed bugs may be found in cracks and crevices of a bed frame. An infested room will have an obnoxious sweet smell. Bed bugs will also leave small droppings.
Florida bed bugs will not just hang out in beds either; contaminated clothing will transfer bedbugs into your dressers, suitcases, laundry-hampers, furniture, etc. They can also be found behind pictures, wallpaper, in cracked floorboards—they are great at finding hiding places.

- Furniture and fixtures
- Beds, bed frames, mattresses and box springs
- Night stands, dresser drawers
- Electrical outlets and light fixtures

Step 3: If the homeowner is not following up after the treatment to make sure that apartment, or building is free of bed bugs re-infestation can occur very easily. A technician’s most important job is to educate our customers so they can protect themselves against future bed bug infestations.
